Learner Support Fund FAQs

If travel, meals, childcare or essential course costs are making it harder for you to study, financial support may be available. The type of help you can apply for depends on your age, course and personal circumstances.

The evidence depends on the support you apply for. It must be complete, readable and show the relevant name, address and financial information. If the evidence is in a parent or carer’s name, you may also need evidence that links you to them. Check the current Eligibility Guide before submitting your application.

Sign in to Pay My Student and upload the documents requested in your application. Upload every page where the full document is required. If you cannot provide a document, contact the Learner Funding team before submitting.

We will email you when your application has been assessed. You can also check the status in Pay My Student.

Payments are normally made to an account in the learner’s own name. Some support, including childcare or exceptional in-kind help, may be paid directly to a provider or supplied another way. The team must confirm the approved exceptions.

Your award may be linked to attendance, engagement, behaviour and the conditions in your award notice.

Tell the Learner Funding team promptly if your financial, course, childcare or personal circumstances change. A change may affect your eligibility or award.

We may reassess your application, stop future payments or recover money paid incorrectly. Deliberately providing false information may be handled under the College policy and relevant law.

Your support will normally stop when you are no longer attending the course. Depending on the award and policy, the College may review or recover payments. Contact the team if your circumstances change.

Where childcare support is approved, the College normally pays the approved registered provider directly. You are responsible for agreeing arrangements with the provider and telling both parties about changes.

Eligibility depends on age, immigration status, care status, course and the relevant funding rules. Because the rules are detailed, contact Student Services for an individual assessment. Do not publish a categorical answer until the specialist team has approved it.
