If you’re looking for a qualification that combines technical knowledge with real-world experience, T Levels could be the perfect choice. Designed for students aged 16-18, they provide a direct route into skilled employment, apprenticeships and higher education while helping you build confidence for the future.
At Barnet and Southgate College, T Levels are available across a range of industry areas including Digital, Science, Engineering, Early Years, Construction and Media. You’ll develop practical skills, gain industry experience and study in specialist learning environments that reflect the workplace.
T levels at Barnet and Southgate College
Each T Level is equivalent to 3 A levels and helps young people develop the knowledge, attitude and practical skills to thrive in the workplace or progress onto Higher Education or Apprenticeships.
In 2024/25 we achieved a 97% pass rate across all of our T Levels, significantly higher than the national average of 91.8%. More than three quarters of those (78.8%) were merit or Distinction grades compared to 65.3% nationally.
What are T levels?
T Levels are technical qualifications for students aged 16-19 who have completed their GCSEs. They were developed with employers to help young people gain the knowledge, practical skills and experience needed for future careers.
Each T Level is equivalent to three A Levels and combines classroom learning with an industry placement. Around 80% of your time is spent developing technical knowledge and practical skills, while 20% is spent gaining valuable workplace experience. This approach helps you build confidence, understand industry expectations and prepare for skilled employment, apprenticeships, university or further training.

You’ll be supported by experienced tutors and gain access to progression opportunities that can help you move into higher education, apprenticeships or employment. We have also secured progression routes with Middlesex University for T Level students, helping you plan your future with confidence and ambition.
