Board Committees

The Audit and Risk Committee provides independent oversight of the College’s internal controls, risk management and governance arrangements. It reviews audit findings, monitors the corporate risk register, oversees arrangements for fraud prevention and whistleblowing, and ensures financial and operational controls are effective. The committee offers assurance to the Board that resources are being used appropriately and that key risks are identified and managed.

The Finance Committee helps the Board ensure the College’s finances are managed responsibly and sustainably. It reviews budgets, financial performance, long-term planning, risks, major investment proposals and key financial policies. The committee monitors income and expenditure, considers savings and growth opportunities, and provides recommendations to the Board to support the effective use of resources and the safeguarding of College assets.

The Quality Committee oversees the quality of teaching, learning and the student experience. It monitors learner outcomes, safeguarding, curriculum development and progress against quality improvement plans. The committee reviews performance data, evaluates the impact of leadership actions and provides assurance to the Board that students receive a high-quality education that meets regulatory expectations and local needs.

The Search, Governance and Remuneration Committee supports effective governance and leadership across the College. It advises the Board on governor recruitment, succession planning, skills, diversity, training and governance effectiveness. The committee also oversees the appraisal framework and remuneration recommendations for senior postholders, helping ensure leadership arrangements remain transparent, accountable and aligned with the College’s strategic priorities.

The Transformation and Innovation Committee provides strategic oversight of major change programmes across the College. It reviews key transformation projects, including digital innovation, artificial intelligence, estates development, income diversification and brand development. Working closely with the Executive Team, the committee scrutinises opportunities, challenges and risks, providing assurance and strategic advice to help the College respond effectively to emerging priorities and future opportunities.
