At Barnet and Southgate College, you can study Science from Level 1 through to Access to Higher Education. Our courses combine practical laboratory work with scientific theory, helping you develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed for university, higher education or employment.

Science students have access to dedicated laboratories at both our Barnet and Southgate campuses. The Southgate facilities have recently been refurbished to provide modern learning environments.

Adult
Our curriculum
We offer Applied Science BTEC Diplomas from Level 1 to Level 3, covering biology, chemistry and physics through a mix of practical and theoretical learning. These qualifications can lead to university, just like A Levels.
We also offer two T Level programmes, based at our Barnet and Southgate campuses.
Our Access to Higher Education Science Diploma is a one-year course for students who do not have A Levels and want to progress to university or further training in a science-related subject.
If you need to improve your qualifications before moving on to the next level, we can include English and Maths as part of your study programme.
Industry experience
Many courses include work experience or industry-focused learning opportunities to help you develop practical skills and prepare for future study or employment.
Recent projects have included T Level students working with the NHS on an HPV awareness campaign, helping them apply their learning in a real-world setting.
Our facilities
Our Science courses, including T Levels, are held at both Barnet and Southgate campuses. Both locations boast specialist laboratories solely for the use of science students. The Southgate facilities have recently been redeveloped and refurbished to ensure that our students and staff can work in the most modern surroundings.
