Course Overview
This course is for young people aged 16 – 19 (or to 25 with an EHCP). The course is an ideal next step for learners who have taken an Entry 3 qualification within the college, or for learners who are assessed at interview to be working at Entry 3 – Level 1. Motivation and enthusiasm are more important than qualifications!

Entry Requirements
NONE You do not need any formal qualifications. There will be a test at interview to assess English, maths and communication skills.
Yes – but it is more of a discussion than an interview. We want to open the doors that are closed to you right now and an important part of this is seeing you in person and discussing how we can help. You will also sit an English and Maths assessment to help us establish your level. Please bring any exam, qualification certificates and support documents to interview.

What this course covers
Functional Skills Maths (Entry 3 – Level 2), Functional Skills English (Entry 3 – Level 2) and a BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Vocational studies – made up of 4 Core units to help develop organisational and study skills, and 6 sector units focusing mostly on Creative Media. In addition, you will have a weekly tutorial with your own personal tutor and a work experience placement.
You will complete assessments throughout the year and complete end of year exams.
Functional Skills Maths (Entry 3 – Level 2), Functional Skills English (Entry 3 – Level 2) and a BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Vocational studies (Pass/Merit or Distinction grades).
Fees and funding
You only need to provide basic equipment such as pens, paper, folders, calculators etc. We will supply the rest.
Progression
Successful completion of the course will enable you to progress onto a Level 2 Course (Creative Media Production, Computer Animation and Games, ICT, and many more).
