What this course covers
Specifically the course is designed for those who wish to write for a career.
The course presents the opportunity to study texts and change their focus so that audiences are engaged.
Students may turn an article into an advertisement employing relevant language features.
In addition poetry is studied in order to deepen understanding of how language works and a fiction text – “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley – is used to examine structure, character building and language.
Assessment will be by examination at the end of the 2 year course. 20% of the assessment will involve coursework. Students are encouraged to pick aspects of language and literature of personal interest to them.
On successful completion of this course, you will achieve an A Level in English Language and Literature.
This is an established and well regarded academic choice at university level, but is also a well- regarded qualification by employers for direct entry into, for example, marketing and advertising.
