What this course covers

All aspects of human behaviour have been fictionalised and on the course we look at the First World War through novels, plays and poetry. When is war acceptable? What is the human cost? These are issues relevant in the contemporary world and debate is encouraged in the classes.

In addition you will be given the tools to analyse a text exploring form, language and structure.

Students will also have the opportunity to explore Victorian Literature and a variety of different texts from the rich history of the subject.

Assessment will be by examination at the end of the 2 year course. Coursework in the second year of study is assessed at 20%.

On successful completion of this course, you will achieve an A Level in English Literature.

English Literature is an established and well regarded academic choice at university level.
Many students opt to take the subject alone but it also offered with a wide variety of humanities subjects as a joint degree.

Fees and funding

This needs to be catalogued in personal statements during the application process. With this in mind we are offering a series of visits and conferences.
