Specialist therapy services
Some Supported Studies students receive specialist therapy as part of their agreed education and support provision.
Therapists work with teaching and support staff so that agreed strategies can be used throughout your college day. Support is based on your assessed needs and the provision set out in your EHC plan.

Subject to assessment, availability and the provision agreed in your EHC plan, services may include:
- speech and language therapy
- occupational therapy
- physiotherapy

How therapists may support you
Depending on your agreed outcomes, therapists may:
- assess your communication, physical, sensory or functional needs

- support your access to learning
- help you develop communication and independence
- work with teaching and support staff
- review your progress towards agreed outcomes
- share relevant advice with the people supporting you
Working together to support you
Therapy as part of everyday learning
Our therapy services are designed to support your wider learning, communication, independence and wellbeing.
Therapists work alongside teaching and support staff to help embed agreed strategies throughout the college day. This means that skills developed during therapy can also be practised in lessons, social activities and everyday college life.
By bringing education, health and support services together, we help create a consistent approach that supports progress towards individual goals and EHC plan outcomes.
Preparing for adulthood
Every student has their own strengths, aspirations and ambitions.
Where therapy is part of your agreed provision, support focuses on helping you develop practical skills that contribute to greater independence, confidence and participation in everyday life.
Depending on your goals, this may include support with:
- communication and self-expression
- independence and daily living skills
- physical mobility and access to learning
- emotional wellbeing and confidence
- preparing for further study, employment and adult life
We work closely with students, parents and carers, local authorities and other professionals to ensure support remains individual, relevant and focused on positive outcomes.
