What is Computing and IT?
Computing and IT is about understanding, creating and managing the technology people and organisations rely on. You can explore programming, networking, cyber security, databases, hardware, web design, digital support and software development through practical learning.
You will learn how systems work, how information is protected and how digital solutions are built and maintained. Alongside technical knowledge, you will develop problem-solving, communication and analytical skills that can support progression into higher education, apprenticeships or employment. Courses are available at different levels, helping you build from your current experience towards more specialised study and a future in the digital sector.
What is Esports?
Esports is organised competitive gaming, where individuals or teams compete against other players and audiences can follow the action. It is different from casual gaming because it focuses on structured competition, performance and the spectator experience.
At Barnet and Southgate College, Level 2 and Level 3 esports courses are delivered in a purpose-built studio at Southgate Campus. You will explore esports as a developing study and career area while building skills that support teamwork, communication and progression. If you are passionate about gaming and want to understand the wider esports sector, this pathway gives you a focused place to begin.
