What this course covers
You will learn how to work with young people in different settings by developing your communication and teamwork skills, understanding how young people grow and develop, and learning how to support them in a safe and positive way. The course also covers how to manage challenging behaviour, work as part of a team, and reflect on your own practice to improve your skills. In addition, you will gain hands-on experience in a real or simulated youth work environment to help you apply what you have learned in practice.
You will be assessed through practical and coursework-based methods rather than formal exams. This means you will build a portfolio of evidence that shows your skills and understanding over time, including written work, assignments, and reflections on your practice. You may also be observed while working with young people and take part in discussions or answering questions to demonstrate your knowledge.
On successful completion of this course, you will achieve a Level 2 Certificate in Youth Work Practice.
