The Level 2 Certificate in Youth Work Practice is a work-related course designed to develop learners’ skills, knowledge, and confidence to work effectively with young people in real-life settings. It helps students understand the role of a youth worker, support young people’s development, and apply safe working practices such as safeguarding. The course also includes practical experience, allowing learners to build their skills in real situations and prepare for roles such as an Assistant Youth Support Worker or progress onto higher-level qualifications.

What qualifications or experience do I need?
To join this course, you are required to have level 2 or equivalent in English and will be subject to an interview and an assessment** **Candidates without a recognised qualification may be eligible to complete an assessment subject to interview outcome
What will I study ?
You will learn how to work with young people in different settings by developing your communication and teamwork skills, understanding how young people grow and develop, and learning how to support them in a safe and positive way. The course also covers how to manage challenging behaviour, work as part of a team, and reflect on your own practice to improve your skills. In addition, you will gain hands-on experience in a real or simulated youth work environment to help you apply what you have learned in practice.
How will I be assessed ?
You will be assessed through practical and coursework-based methods rather than formal exams. This means you will build a portfolio of evidence that shows your skills and understanding over time, including written work, assignments, and reflections on your practice. You may also be observed while working with young people and take part in discussions or answering questions to demonstrate your knowledge.
What qualifications could I achieve ?
On successful completion of this course, you will achieve a Level 2 Certificate in Youth Work Practice.
