The Level 3 Uniformed Protective Services (UPS) course is designed for learners who aspire to careers within the Police, Armed Forces, Fire and Rescue Service, Prison Service, Ambulance Service, and other protective or uniformed services, or who wish to progress to higher education.
This course provides an in-depth understanding of how uniformed protective services operate, with a strong focus on professional behaviour, discipline, leadership, teamwork, public protection, and the impact of government and society. Learning is vocational, analytical, and practical, preparing learners for the responsibility, professionalism, and decision-making required within the sector.

What qualifications or experience do I need?
To get on this course you are required to have 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A*-C), including English and Maths. Applicants with a BTEC L2 Certificate in PS require a Merit grade, with English and Maths GCSEs at a minimum grade 4. You must have an interest Uniformed Protective Services and a willingness to study topics such as Politics, Law, Psychology and Sociology. Previous knowledge is advantageous but not necessary to secure a placement on the course.
What will I study ?
You will study a range of mandatory and specialist units that reflect the real-world expectations of Uniformed Protective Services, including:
· Behaviour and Discipline in the Uniformed Protective Services
· Teamwork, Leadership and Communication
· Police Powers and the Law
How will I be assessed ?
Assessment will take place throughout the course using methods such as practical assessments, written assignments and presentations.
What qualifications could I achieve ?
On successful completion of this course, you will achieve a Level 3 Extended Certificate in Uniformed Protective Services.
