16-19 Vulnerable Learner Bursary

The College receives funds from the Department for Education (DfE) to help cover the financial costs to attend and engage in education. Depending on your personal circumstances and the length of your course you may be entitled to receive up to £1200.00.

The Vulnerable Learner Support Fund must be used to cover the costs listed below:,

If you are under 20 and need help to pay for Childcare to attend college, students can apply for Care to Learn funding.

To be eligible for the 16-19 Vulnerable Learner Support Funding, students must be in receipt of means tested benefits in their own right or be able to evidence they are a child in care by providing a letter on headed paper from their local authority.

To access the Vulnerable Learner support Fund students must be enrolled on a full-time course which is 12 hours or more a week for over 10 weeks or longer, and be a ‘Home’ or a ‘European Economic Area’ student.

To ensure a weekly payment, students must have a minimum of 80% attendance each week and meet the standards of behaviour and effort agreed at the start of the course.
