This is a ONE Year full-time revision course designed for students aged between 16 and 18 years (inclusive) who wish to retake their GCSEs in the 3 science subjects, as well as GCSE maths & English. There is the option to study GCSE psychology. (Please note you DO NOT have to apply for GCSE maths and English separately - they are part of this package.)

You will be expected to have at least a grade D (3) in core science and grade D (3) in Additional Science. We will consider BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Science, subject to your performance in the pre-enrolment test. You will also be expected to demonstrate through assessment, a standard of literacy and numeracy suitable for a level 2 qualification. You must have a genuine interest in and an aptitude for science.

All students take three units covering such topics as rates of reactions, metals and their uses, energy from reactions, chemical changes in the atmosphere and basic organic chemistry.

All units will be assessed by one hour written exams consisting of short structured questions and at least one longer response question. Each paper accounts for 25% of the overall marks and your work will be assessed for the quality of your written communication skills. You will also have to complete Investigative Skills Assignments which are used to assess chemistry practical work and scientific data handling. This accounts for the remaining 25% of the marks. Lessons will consist of lectures and lab based practical exercises as appropriate. Extensive use is made of current classroom technology and trips. You will also attend tutorials and if required additional workshop support is provided.

On successful completion of this course, you will achieve GCSE certificates in each subject studied.

Please complete an application form and return to the College - either online, by post or in person at one of our campuses. (Please note you DO NOT have to apply for GCSE maths and English separately - they are part of this package.)

Yes, you will need to meet with a member of staff for an interview and an initial assessment.
