Anyone interested in pursuing a career in Science such as biomedical science, radiography, forensic science or psychology should consider this diploma, a fascinating course that encompasses a wide range of science areas. To be successful you need to be a committed, independent learner with a strong work ethic with a genuine interest in science.

You will require a Merit in BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Applied Science (60 credits), and a standard of literacy and numeracy supported by a general education equivalent to 6 GCSE's at A* - C (8/9 - 4/5) including science, additional science, mathematics and English language, as well as a reference from your last/current school.

You will study a wide range of science units based on biology, chemistry and physics. These units cover many diverse aspects of scientific investigation, as the idea is to gain both a theoretical and practical feel for this field of study.

All units will be assessed and graded, and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded. To achieve a pass grade for the qualification you must complete and achieve a minimum of a pass in all units. There are 6 units in the first year, 4 are internally set controlled assessments and 2 are externally set exams/assessments.

At the end of the first year you will achieve a BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Applied Science which is equivalent to 1.5 A levels, if you progress and complete the second year you will achieve a BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Applied Science which is equivalent to 3 A levels.
