The extended Level 1 course combines 2 qualifications; the Level 1 Award in Bookkeeping and the Level 1 Award in Computerised Accounting. These are introductory level qualifications which cover manual bookkeeping and accounting, the basic skills required to use computerised accounting software (Sage) and the use of spreadsheets to present financial information. The course is Ideal for those who are new to accountancy and are considering a career in accountancy and finance. This short course is over 5 weeks (you will study 2 days per week) and provide you with a sound foundation in accounting and bookkeeping.
No formal accounting or finance experience is necessary, however applicants should have English and maths qualifications at Level 1 or above. Mature students may be accepted upon successful completion of an initial assessment.
Learners will gain an understanding of - the role of the bookkeeper; the terminology used in bookkeeping; the fundamental principles of bookkeeping; how to prepare financial documents and record them through the accounting system; how to use spreadsheet software to provide financial information in a variety of formats; the fundamental principles required to use a computerised accounting system (Sage).
The course is assessed by three computer based assessments, consisting of: 1. Bookkeeping - 2 hours; 2. Computerised accounting - 1 ½ hours; 3. Spreadsheets - 1 ¾ hours
AAT Level 1 Award in Bookkeeping and AAT Level 1 Award in Computerised Accounting

There will be additional charges if students wish to re-sit exams.
This course has monthly starts available throughout the year, and runs for 2 days per week for 5 weeks (from September 2017). Class times are 10am - 4pm.
