Ideal for those who are new to accountancy and are considering a career in finance or self-employment, or for those who are looking for a refresher of their basic accounting skills. (19+)

No formal experience is necessary English and Maths at GCSE grade D or above, or equivalent Mature students may be accepted upon successful completion of an initial assessment.

To have a firm understanding of basic bookkeeping is a fundamental skill that all accountants must possess and at Level 2 we will begin to explore the concepts of double entry bookkeeping enabling you to be able to prepare simple accounts up to the preparation of a Trial Balance. Learners will gain an understanding of how to process simple transactions using double entry bookkeeping, prepare control accounts and journals. Use and understand the banking system. Use basic costing techniques. Work effectively in Accounting and Finance. Process transactions using computerised accounting packages (SAGE)
