Traineeships, also known as pre-apprenticeships, are training programmes to help students gain the skills needed to prepare for and secure employment in an apprenticeship or other form of work
Employer feedback consistently reports that young people who apply for vacancies often lack work related skills and attitudes. Traineeships help develop skills through work preparation training, work placements, and by improving English and maths skills. By equipping you with the skills you will need in employment and providing work experience, traineeships help you get to where you want to go next.

A work placement will provide you with employment experience, developing your workplace skills and providing an opportunity for you to prove yourself to an employer. English and maths skills will also be taught if you have not achieved a GCSE grade C or equivalent in these subjects.
