Labour MP for Enfield Southgate, Bambos Charalambous, visited Barnet and Southgate College on 08 November
College Principal David Byrne, together with key staff, gave the MP a tour of the College’s brand new dental and CETEC (Centre of Excellence for Technology Enhanced Care) facilities.
Amongst those showing him around was Firas Sarhan, Director for Barnet and Southgate College’s CETEC. Firas said:
“It’s been great to show Bambos around today so he can see first-hand the type of training we will deliver. Telehealth is the future of healthcare and through our partnership and collaborative work with health, social and technology professionals, we aim to promote innovation in the sector. Our strategy is to support clinicians to develop training packages in telehealth, telecare and assisted living for our students and professionals alike.”
As part of the visit the local MP was also shown the dental facilities at the Southgate Campus; David Byrne Principal of Barnet and Southgate College said:
“The brand new BSC Centre of Dental Sciences moves away from the ‘messy’ artisan craft of dental manufacturing to the cleaner tech driven world of CAD design and 3D Printing. We’re extremely proud to be leading on this unique project which will change technical education within the dental industry in London, bringing it firmly into the 21st century and beyond.”
Bambos commented on how impressed he was with all of the facilities, he said:
" I have made further and higher education a priority in my Parliamentary work. And so it’s great to visit Barnet and Southgate College to see for myself how they are investing and planning for the future through their dental and CETEC facilities. Higher level dental apprenticeships is just one of the many exciting career pathways that students in our borough can follow.
I studied at a technical college and I know how much great work and commitment goes into the sector."
