Barnet and Southgate College in karting victory!

The College Motor Vehicle students’ Motorsports Team has qualified for the regional finals of the National British Schools Karting Championship 2012.

The local finals were held recently at Teamsport Karting in Edmonton, with teams from schools and colleges throughout the region taking part.

The jubilant team of students - Sagar Bhagat, Usama Patel and Nabil Sebti (pictured left to right) put in a fantastic performance, showing pace and focus and staying in their race lines at all times. The students successfully secured third place, which now entitles them to compete in the regional finals being held on 3 March at Buckmore Park Karting circuit in Kent.

“Barnet and Southgate College offers a wide range of motor vehicle and motor sports courses; each one designed to maximize students employment opportunities in all areas of the industry. The students making up the College Motorsports team, displayed commitment, determination and composure in their recent competition, which has become increasingly challenging each year. We would like to congratulate them on their success and wish them luck for the regional finals next month.”

Barnet and Southgate College motor vehicle courses are based at the Southgate campus and subjects range from motor mechanics, motor sport, vehicle body repair, paint refinishing, fault diagnostics and management disciplines.

Practical and diagnostic work is a major part of all courses and is carried out in the new state-of-the-art workshops, with access to an interactive learning suite.

Open days will be held next month at most of the College campuses , the next one at the Southgate Campus will be held on the 12 May.
