First Aid Course

This 12 hour course is for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide first aid to children (including babies.) e.g. au-pairs, nannies. Childminders and nursery workers.

You will study:

  • Assessing an emergency situation
  • Dealing with an unresponsive infant or child
  • Recovery position and CPR
  • Choking
  • Fractures, dislocations and sprains
  • Anaphylaxis and allergic reactions
  • Poisoning
  • Burns and scalds
  • Electric shock
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Shock
  • Eye, ear and nose conditions
  • Bites and stings
  • Treatment for hot and cold temperatures
  • Minor injuries
  • Accident recording

Timetable options

This is a six week course with classes on a Thursday . To join the class you will need to attend a testing session between Monday - Friday, 10am - 12.30pm on Southgate Campus or email international@barnetsouthgate.ac.uk to book a skype interview.
