If you are over 19 years of age (although 21 is preferable) and want to work towards a qualification that will help to gain you access on to a degree course in Primary Teaching, then this is the perfect route for you.
The course offers the underpinning knowledge to gain a level 3 qualification.
What qualifications or experience do I need ?
Applicants must have some relevant experience working with young chilren in schools or early years settings and showing a real desire to progress into the teaching profession. Commitment to study and hard work is essential!
Students progressing from a level 2 qualification will normally require a merit profile.
A good standard of English, equivalent GCSE Level 2 minimum is required. Students without certification will undertake a Literacy assessment.
Applicants will also need a satisfactory reference and interview.
What will I study ?
This course programme covers:
* Mathematics, English and Science GCSE equivalents
* Educational Issues
* Study Skills
* Child Development
* Teaching Experience in Key Stage 1 and 2
One day a week in a primary school placement.
How will I be assessed ?
Assessment will be credit based through:
* Coursework
* Final Examination
What qualifications could I achieve ?
On successful completion of this course, you will achieve the nationally recognised Access to Higher Education Diploma L3 Primary Teaching accredited by the awarding organisation OCN London.
What can the course lead to ?
This can lead to progression on to University studying Primary Teaching/Educational Studies.
How do I join the course ?
Please complete an online application form. You will be invited to attend a literacy and numeracy test after which, successful achievement at Level 2 you will then be invited for an interview.
Will I need an interview ?
Yes. You will also be given an English and Mathematics test.
Students will be required to complete a health and Criminal Records (CRB) declaration
