Who is this course for?
A student who wishes to study full-time to progress to university courses having recently achieved a range of GCSE qualifications.
What qualifications or experience do I need ?
GCSE grades A*-C in at least six academic subjects in one sitting including a grade B in Additional Science or Biology. B grade in GCSE English or Maths.
What will I study ?
AS Biology specification - 8B101 Biology Examining Board - EDEXCEL Unit 1 - Lifestyle, Transport, Genes and Health Unit 2 - Development, Plants and the Environment * In addition tutorial will be added.
How will I be assessed ?
Assessment will be through: * examination * coursework according to the specification of the awarding examination board for each subject.
What qualifications could I achieve ?
On successful completion of this course, you will achieve AS Level certificates in each subject on your programme.
What can the course lead to ?
On successful completion of this course you may progress to Year 2 of the A Level programme to take A2 subjects according to the subjects and grades that you have achieved.
How do I join the course ?
You must complete a full-time application form and make an appointment for an interview with a tutor. References will be required from your previous educational establishment.
Will I need an interview ?
Yes, before you can enrol.
Are there any extra costs for equipment/materials ?
Yes, students are required to buy one or more textbooks which will be recommended at the start of term. Students will need a calculator and it is recommended that they buy a laboratory coat for practical work.
