A student wishing to study full-time to progress to university courses having recently achieved a range of GCSE and AS qualifications.
What qualifications or experience do I need ?
2 AS Levels at grades A-D including this subject. E grade AS Biology candidates may be considered on an individual basis.
What will I study ?
A2 Biology specification - 9BIO1
Examining Board - EDEXCEL
Unit 4 - The Natural Environment and Species Survival
Unit 5 - Energy, Exercise and Coordination
Unit 6 - Practical Coursework Assessment
In addition Tutorial will be added.
How will I be assessed ?
Assessment will be through:
*examination
*coursework
according to the specification of the awarding examining board.
What qualifications could I achieve ?
On successful completion of this subject, the candidate will gain an A Level in Biology.
What can the course lead to ?
On successful completion of this course, you may progress to a university course of your choosing according to the subjects and grades that you have achieved.
How do I join the course ?
You must complete a full-time application form and make an appointment for an interview with a tutor. References will be required from your previous educational establishment.
Will I need an interview ?
Yes, before you can enrol.
Are there any extra costs for equipment/materials ?
Yes, students are required to buy one or more textbooks. We will be reviewing the new books as they are published and making specific recommendations to the students at the beginning of the course. Students will need a calculator and it is recommended that they buy a laboratory coat for practical work.
