Are you employed in the classic car or body, paint and panel workshops, and looking to advance in the automotive industry? If you have completed a Level 2 diploma in classic car restoration and wish to become an advanced apprentice you should apply for this course.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS COURSE IS COMING SOON, SUBJECT TO VALIDATION AND DEVELOPMENT. Candidates must have been resident in the UK for 3 years and be working a minimum of 30 paid hours per week in a motor vehicle garage environment. You will also need a minimum of three GCSEs at grades A*- D (8/9 - 3), including English and maths and be performing at level 1 in ICT. Candidates must not have a Level 4 qualification or above.

You will study a broad spectrum of industry-relevant topics to allow you to develop your knowledge and skills across a range of different disciplines. These units cover the following categories: mandatory health and safety, tools and equipment, materials, identifying customer expectations, dismantling, good housekeeping and the vehicle repair environment Mechanical: engines, lubrication, cooling systems, hydraulic & pneumatic systems, fuel, air exhaust, ignition systems, fault finding techniques, overhauling and reconditioning engines Panel: repairing major body defects, replacing vehicle structures, evaluating body misalignment, advanced thermal joining & filling, figure plastic reinforced repairs. Paint: rectification of major paint defects, enhanced vehicle finishing, corrosion restoration, applying topcoat to match original paint, advanced paint finishing. Trim: removing & replacing glazing components, refurbishment of interim & exterior and wood components.

You will be assessed through a combination of practical tasks in the motor vehicle workshop, written exams, online exams, coursework and reports on your competence in your normal workplace.

Successful candidates will achieve a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Classic Car Restoration with the following qualifications: IMI Level 3 Diploma Classic Vehicle Restoration Competence (VCQ), IMI Level 3 Classic Vehicle Restoration Principles (VRQ), IMI Level 2 Award in Knowledge of Employee Rights and Responsibilities (ERR), Level 1/2 Functional Skills in maths, Level 1/2 Functional Skills in English, Level 1/2 Functional Skills in ICT.
