This is a two year course for students who wish to pursue a specialist career in computing, and are considering studying for a degree at University, or to progress to employment. The course offers the opportunity to explore a broad range of computing subjects, enabling students to develop specialist areas in the IT sector. The course runs at the Wood Street and Southgate campuses.

Applicants must have the following qualifications: 5 GCSEs including English and maths at Grade 4/5 (C) or above. We will consider equivalent qualifications.

You will have the opportunity to study across a wide range of topics in the field of computing. In year 1 you will study 9 units. The two year course comprises 18 units including: Computer systems, Networking, AutoCAD, Advanced spreadsheet skills, Programming with Java, IT systems analysis and design, website development and IT projects. You will also be required to complete a work placement as part of the course.

Each unit will undergo a variety of assessments internally. Additionally, two units will be assessed externally via examinations.

Upon successful completion of the two year course, you will achieve a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT, equivalent to 3 A levels.
