This course is for young people aged 16 - 19. Perhaps you did not do so well in your GCSEs, or have not gained many qualifications. Or it could be that you suffered illness or injury, or moved home and couldn't complete your school year. The Bridging Course is here to get you back to where you want to be, with a full set of qualifications to take you forward. You will join a Bridging group with other young people who have similar stories to you and you will work for a year to achieve the qualifications you need to be successful.
None, but motivation, determination to succeed and a good attitude towards learning are all vital.
You will be studying a full Certificate or Diploma in Level 1 Vocational Studies, as well as English and maths. This includes a huge range of subjects from science to ICT to business and more. Exact course content depends on which campus you study at, but more details will be provided at interview. You will be able to study GCSE English Language, GCSE English Literature and GCSE Maths, as long as you already hold minimum Grade D (3) in these subjects, or Functional Skills Level 2 certificates in English and Maths. If you do not hold these qualifications, you can still study the GCSEs if you successfully pass assessment tests during your induction. If it is decided that you are not yet ready to study the GCSEs, you will study Functional Skills English and Maths, with a view to progressing on to GCSE courses the following year. In addition, you will have a weekly tutorial with your own personal tutor and a work experience placement.
You can achieve a whole range of qualifications (see above) at Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2.
Come and see the Bridging Team to discuss how the Bridging Course can help you get to where you want to be. You should bring any GCSE or BTEC results with you as well as identification documents. Contact the Curriculum Manager, Mary William (firstname.lastname@example.org). Alternatively please email email@example.com. We look forward to meeting you!
Yes - but motivation and enthusiasm are more important than experience / qualifications. It is more of a discussion than an interview. We want to open the doors that are closed to you right now and an important part of this is seeing you in person and discussing how we can help. You will also sit an English and Maths assessment to help us establish the right Bridging group for you.
You only need to provide basic equipment such as pens, paper, folders, calculators etc. We will supply the rest.
To apply or enrol for this course you must first create an account with the College. This is a simple process that should not take more than a few minutes.
If you have any difficulties with applying online or have any other questions please Contact Us, or call 020 8266 4000. Please note this is not a 24 hour helpline.
