A one year intensive art and design programme. The course will take you through projects, assignments, presentations and group critiques. You will develop strong communication skills and support the transition from general to specialist art and design education.
You will need 5 GCSEs grade A* - C (8/9 - 4/5), preferably including English; a Functional Skills Level 1 in Maths and/or English; or 3 GCSEs Grade A* - C (8/9 - 4/5), including English and 1 'A' Level in a related subject; or a Level 3 Diploma in another relevant subject area (Distinction or Merit).
You will study a broad range of 2D and 3D art and design related subjects leading to a specialist choice which could include graphics, fashion, fine art, three dimensional design etc. You will work towards preparing a portfolio for progression onto a range of Higher Education courses.
Assessment is formative and coursework is assessed throughout the year.

Yes - you will need to meet a member of staff for an interview; to which you should bring a portfolio of your artwork, and a written piece (approximately 300 words - one side of A4) on why you are applying for a creative course and what your future plans are.
Most materials will be provided, but it is advisable to invest in a range of art and design related equipment and materials, so you can continue your work outside of the studios.
Students may be required to study Functional Skills or GCSE English and/or Maths as part of their programme.
