The Diploma provides a transition from general education to a specialist art and design qualification, enabling the learner to make an informed decision when applying to art and design higher education or seeking employment within a related industry
The programme is designed to build upon a learner’s prior experience, linking skills already acquired with ideas and challenges which will extend the learner’s critical independence and enable them to demonstrate a full understanding of the relevant standards to achieve progression to Higher Education, a career or apprenticeship of their choice.

The year is divided into three parts in accordance with UAL guidelines:
Learning skills and context broad-based workshops - help you to choose and understand a subject and industry future specialism.
Development and Progression - you will explore your subject choice in greater detail and prepare portfolios for degree-level interviews
Project Proposal and Realisation - you will write and direct your own brief using the knowledge, skills and confidence you have acquired during the course.
You will attend a programme of professional practice workshops and take part in educational visits and live projects.
The lecturers delivering the programme are innovative in their delivery, identifying specific discipline expertise, whist ensuring that the core interpretative function of translating learner’s abilities into realised goals is achieved. You will also take part in educational visits and study trips, where all students will work together on location-based drawing projects.
