Barnet and Southgate College offers apprenticeships in a variety of sectors from hairdressing and catering, to business administration and human resources
Take a look at our Apprenticeships video:
Apprenticeships are not only of huge benefit to the apprentices themselves, but also to employers; research from the National Apprenticeships Service (NAS) has shown that 80% of those who employ apprentices agree that they make the workplace more productive and that apprentices are loyal and hardworking. In fact 83% of organisations that employ apprentices, such as hairdressing salons, rely on their apprenticeships to provide the skilled workers that they need for the future.
Barnet and Southgate College Principal, David Byrne said:
“Apprenticeships are at the heart of everything we do as a College, which is working closely with employers in the local community and across the region. They are a great way for young people to shape their future careers; earning a wage whilst they train on the job and at the same time gain nationally recognised qualifications. We are exceptionally proud of the fact that we are committed to apprenticeships at the College and to date we have placed nearly 2,500 young people with employers The scheme is of huge benefit to employers, especially when many apprentices go onto permanent full-time positions, proving the overarching theme of National Apprenticeship Week, which is that apprenticeships really do deliver for both employers and the individual involved.”
