Privacy Policy

Barnet and Southgate College is required by law to comply with the Data Protection Act, 1998.

To comply with the law, information is collected and used fairly, stored safely and not disclosed to any other person unlawfully. To do this Barnet and Southgate College complies with the Data Protection Principles, which in respect of personal data require that they:

  • Be obtained and processed fairly and lawfully and shall not be processed unless certain conditions are met;
  • Be obtained for a specified and lawful purpose and shall not be processed in any manner incompatible with that purpose;
  • Be adequate, relevant and not excessive for those purposes;
  • Be adequate and kept up to date;
  • Not be kept for longer than is necessary for that purpose;
  • Be processed in accordance with the data subject’s rights
  • Be kept safe from unauthorised access, accidental loss or destruction;
  • Not be transferred to a country outside the European Economic Area unless that country has equivalent levels of protection for personal data.

The Barnet and Southgate College website carries information that is already publicly available, for example organisational structures, governing bodies and committees, staff contacts, photographs of key staff. Where permission from individuals or organisations is required before publication of material, this has been obtained.  Information that is already publicly available is exempt from the 1998 Act.


The copyright of images on this site is either owned by Barnet and Southgate College or we have permission to use from the copyright owner.  When we use pictures of individuals on College grounds and involved in College activities for publication on this site or in other media and the individuals are clearly identifiable, we have consent from the individual concerned for the use of their image.  If you are in an image on this site and have not consented to its use and would prefer it to be removed, please contact the Digital Media Co-ordinator .
