Trials for boys aged 16 to 19 years

Barnet and Southgate College is offering an exciting, new improved Basketball Programme for 2012/13 to compliment the Football Education Scheme and Centre of Rugby Excellence.

This exciting NEW opportunity for BOYS aged 16 to 19 (Must be currently year 11, 12 or 13) gives them the opportunity to train regularly during the week, play friendly and competitive matches against other colleges / academies and clubs, and work with qualified coaches.

Most importantly you will also receive full time education at Barnet and Southgate College, situated 1 minute away from Southgate Station on the Piccadilly Line. Most of the training and lessons will take place at the Southgate Campus but training and games will also be played at other venues such as Edmonton Leisure Centre, which is our primary match venue. You can expect…

  • A range of courses available including BTEC Level 1 to 3 in Sport
  • Options of other courses including Basketball / Football Coaching Awards (Level 1 and 2) CYQ Assistant Instructors Award, Award in Sports Leadership in the Community and other vocational awards
  • Compulsory completion of Functional Skills in English and Maths
  • Basketball training and specific fitness sessions delivered by qualified coaches and complimentary staff
  • Feedback on training and performance from professional staff
  • Full schedule / timetable of lessons / regular training and games (playing in a competitive colleges league)
  • Full training kit
  • Access to fully qualified physiotherapists / sports therapists at the college
  • Close links and progression to Southgate Academicals  National League team
  • Regular use of gym facilities at College
