Barnet and Southgate College has a proud tradition of sport provision and we offer opportunities in a number of sports including Football, Rugby (League and Union), Athletics, Tennis, Basketball and Multisports

We offer opportunities to student athletes looking to specialise and achieve high levels of performance alongside their academic courses.
Your choice of courses include a range of Vocational BTEC courses in Sport and Leisure as well as Coaching Awards amongst others. More details on our courses can be provided when you apply.

You can apply online for trials for our full range of sports. Your application will be automatically emailed to sportstrials@barnetsouthgate.ac.uk

If you are successful in obtaining a place after completing your application and attending an academic interview you will receive a number of benefits including coaching from fully qualified staff and training and playing kit. You can read more about the benefits for each individual sports programme by selecting the sport you are interested in.

“We have a number of very exciting developments and opportunities for students at Barnet and Southgate College, ranging from football, athletics,basketball, tennis and rugby developments centres, where training is embedded within the learning time, to dance, and badminton. 

All provision of sport here is available within and alongside educational courses which open up doors into the workplace, with all students on full time programmes being required to complete a variety of work experience placements. 

These are available with our partners, local schools, within the college enrichment programme and with external sports industry organisations.  We also offer several sports and leisure activities for students not on sports courses to sign up for in their spare time, which are very popular with most of our students.”
