At Barnet and Southgate College we have purpose built catering facilities including fully equipped kitchens for skills building. Our contemporary Restaurant at Southgate is open to learners, staff and the public.
Learners gain qualifications in both Food Preparation and Cookery and Food and Drink Service at Levels 1, 2 through the Diplomas in Professional cookery 7100 series. They may also have the opportunity to gain qualifications in pastry and bakery.
Work experience in both restaurant production and food service is an important part of our courses. In addition our learners undertake Hygiene and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) courses at various levels. All of these qualifications are widely recognised by employers in the hotel, catering and hospitality industry, both nationally and internationally.
The College has a professional training facility, The Restaurant , which is based at the Southgate Campus and is open to staff, students and the general public for lunches and evening meals.
Our full-time courses cover a wide range of catering and hospitality areas including Barista training, customer service and nutrition. Our successful students all complete one month's work experience - in the last year this has included work at the Savoy, top hotels in Park Lane and Mayfair and at Jamie Oliver's ' Fifteen ' Restaurant.

Learners are also required to purchase knives for food production courses, suitable uniforms and professional cookery texts.
